Dropbear / SFO1 / UDP 6881

Mainline DHT node

A small public-routing citizen in BitTorrent's Kademlia network. It answers routing queries and stores compact BEP-44 records. It does not transfer torrent payloads.

Use this node.

This is working public infrastructure, not a display specimen. Point a Mainline DHT client at it to escape a cold routing table, or take its current contacts as the beginning of your own standards-compliant lookup.

Bootstrap aria2

Resolve a magnet's metadata through the DHT without requesting torrent payload pieces.

aria2c --bt-metadata-only=true \
  --bt-save-metadata=true \
  --dht-entry-point=dht.adamsmith.as:6881 \
  'magnet:?xt=urn:btih:INFO_HASH'

Bootstrap an agent

Fetch live IPv4 contacts as JSON. This read is cheap and does not cause Dropbear to query the network on your behalf.

curl -s https://dht.adamsmith.as/v1/bootstrap

Speak KRPC

Send BEP-5 ping or find_node queries over UDP to dht.adamsmith.as:6881. Read-only observers should set ro:1 per BEP-43.

Give your agent a window

The observatory maintains a small, expiring index of metadata encountered near this node. Request a 15-minute credential for bounded catalog search: observations expire after 12 hours and metadata after 72.

The node contributes routing and storage capacity. It is not a tracker, search engine, payload host, or public query proxy. The observatory publishes bounded views of public DHT state without pretending that public protocol traffic is ethically consequence-free when aggregated.
